Well I made it through day 1, only to wake to dense cloud. Dense cloud and me don’t get on. We never have. When the air pressure drops and our heavens fill with clouds, I feel it right deep down in my sinuses. It feels like someone is wearing a stiletto and standing with the heel in my head. It’s one of the reasons I’m doing this cleanse, as even though I am really healthy, there’s a few little things that always catch me out. It seems wildly unfair, BUT I’m not going to gripe about it, I’m going to try and change it. So here goes,

DAY 2

Couldn’t get my head off the pillow till around 9am, but surprisingly, I wasn’t starving, so that was a good sign.

2 sticks of celery in the blender with a cup of water and wooosh, the cleanse part of my day had begun.

Made a cup of herbal tea. Had a couple of sips.

Smoothie number 1

The grapefruit was a mistake. It made it too sharp and that felt acidy in my stomach. I drank some but couldn’t finish it so left it on the side.

My tea went cold as I needed to lay down and press my head into the pillow. Slept.

Woke around 12. Still in pain. Went back to sleep.

Woke around 2pm and decided it was time for

Smoothie number 2

This one was perfect and it made 1.5 glasses worth so I drank it all.

Then I went on the hunt around the house for some Sinutab. Took those, pressed my head back into the pillow and slept.

I know am blessed with the gift of sleeping. I can and have done it anywhere and my sleep pattern has never changed. All through the years, from teen to post-menopausal I just lay my head, close my eyes and I’m gone. I know it’s an absolute blessing.

I have clients who have trouble sleeping and it’s awful, sometimes a change in diet does help with this, as can meditation and breath work. If you’re having trouble with that, drop me a line and let’s see what we can do.

This afternoon I watched the clouds dissipate and as they did, I felt my head lighten. Yep, literally in tune with the clouds. As they thinned and scattered, I felt the mucus thinning in my head. Right now, as we speak, it’s like a little line running from the top of my head on the left, down to the front and just above my eyebrow. It’s been like that for the last hour; just taunting me with the promise of leaving, but it’s no longer wearing stilettos and for that I am truly grateful. It meant I could get up and function. Functioning meant dinner so let me tell you about my soup … it did not start out as soup. In my head I was going to make a salsa, but my blender had other ideas…

Tomato & Kale Gazpacio

Hit the switch. Top with sprouts.

I cannot tell you how delicious that was. Seriously, I was really surprised. I think I said to myself something like

‘Well look at you, getting all pro with the raw stuff already’

Yes I talk to myself. Yes you talk to yourself too … admit it!

Incidentally, that will make 2 bowls, so I’ve got one for tomorrow.

Then I threw 2 sexy avocados into a bowl and mashed them with 2 finely chopped spring onions, or scallions if you’re posh and a 2 inch piece of cucumber, chopped to within an inch of its life.

I had a portion of my dinner from last night so I laid that on a plate, topped it with the avocado, added some sprouting chickpeas and a sprinkling of lemon juice.

The whole thing was delicious and really quick, which is just what I needed as I always feel worn out after a fight with my sinuses.

One last thing, I’m loving the sprouting chickpeas so I’ve decided to make my own! If they are a success, I’ll share the know-how with you.

Let me know if you want to join in on this journey, even if only for a day. Together is always easier. Just come on over to my group and tag me in a post asking to join in. https://www.facebook.com/KymVincentiHealthCoach/
